Fertility yoga

Michelle teaches one-to-one sessions and is a certified therapist for women who wish to conceive, those undergoing fertility treatments or IVF and also for women who are in their first trimester (0–14 weeks of pregnancy). Yoga is applied to optimally enhance ovarian function and to create an optimal womb environment. As with all of Michelle's classes a holistic approach is taken and there is a focus not only on the body, but also the mind and spirit, too, so that resources are available to help cope with the stress associated with uncertainties around this time and to increase the ability to self-nurture in preparation for motherhood.

Whatever the stage, whether planning for a baby or undergoing Assisted Reproductive Techniques, fertility yoga has an emphasis on relaxation, and fertility is enhanced with specific yoga-based exercises. Bloodflow to muscles and connective tissues in the lower pelvis is enhanced which in turn activates the hormonal pathways during the menstrual cycle and during the ever important implantation stage. It is advisable to continue with Fertility yoga to the 14th week of pregnancy, when the placenta has become fully functional and the risks of miscarriage are reduced.
